Our Name: “The Cuppo”
The coffee shop takes its name from the term "Cuppo" coffee, which represents the excellent “Cup of Coffee” customers can expect. The name also reflects the dual ownership by the sibling duo, Tam Duong & Sivin Duong.
The Cuppo Coffee and Tea, which opened in August 2019, is the first specialty coffee shop in Jersey Village, providing an alternative to the big coffee shop franchises. Tam and Sivin Duong, like many coffee lovers, found it difficult to find a good local coffee shop in the suburbs with many coffee shops were centered in the inner city of Houston, Texas.
After two years of searching for the perfect location, they chose Jersey Village to fill the gap and provide a space for the community to enjoy good coffee. The siblings regularly drove into the city for a good cup of coffee and wanted to bring the inner city coffee shop vibe and specialty coffee experience to their local area. Recognizing the need for this type of coffee ship in the area, Jersey Village city officials were supportive in the build out of Cuppo coffee shop from the beginning to finish.

The 900sqft coffee shop was renovated from a long time dry cleaner shop and was designed carefully with personal touches by their talented architect dad with coffee paintings, watercolor artwork on the walls, to the woodwork designs throughout the shop. From the round coffee table to installing the wood beams on the all to creating a pergola inside the coffee shop, the design create a warm and cozy coffee boutique ambience as its unique signature of the shop and its branding.
Adding to the personal touch of the shop is an adopted piano that they rescued on the street. The old piano, with a name “sunflower” now rests next to the bar, providing a fun element for customers to play and appreciate.
The coffee paintings were painted with freshly brewed coffee. Coffee artwork were inspired by the love for coffee, the love for being Christians, the appreciation of the community support, the love for animals, and the gratefulness for the blessings Cuppo has been receiving.
Cuppo coffee shop is not only a place for good coffee or to hang out but also a community coffee house for our customers to be part of our story from the start.
Jersey Village has warmly welcomed the addition of their local shop, providing a space for people to gather and enjoy hand-brewed coffee.
With plans for future businesses in the community, the company is grateful for the support of their customers and the growth of Jersey Village. The owners noticed a gap in the community's offerings and sought to create a space for people to gather and build a sense of community.
